1740 Marquis de Sade Eau de Parfum Spray from the Characters line by Histoires de Parfums is a powerful, self-confident fragrance for men based on masculine leather and stimulating spices.
Rough leather meets passionate patchouli
Born in 1740, the aristocrat Marquis de Sade made a name for himself primarily through his disreputable novels. Gérald Ghislain, perfumer and head of Histoires de Parfums, captures the character of the infamous Frenchman in 1740 Marquis de Sade Eau de Parfum Spray. Like all fragrances in the Characters fragrance line, the 1740 Marquis de Sade Eau de Parfum Spray comes in a bottle and outer packaging that resemble a book cover, so that the bottles can be placed on the side of a bookshelf. The perfume is based on a base of rough leather, which is joined by warm cedar and birch wood and creamy ladan resin. The heart note lends the creation a hot-blooded, oriental tone with patchouli, which is emphasised by spicy cardamom and coriander. The top note loosens up the fragrance with bergamot and is given a refreshing herbal nuance by mugwort.

In order for men's perfume to really come into its own, it is always sprayed very sparingly and directly onto the skin. The chosen fragrance is quickly released through body heat. If you use a spray bottle, the distance should be around 20 cm. The fine spray mist is not rubbed off and dries on the skin. As the spray mist rises from the bottom upwards, the skin is always perfumed from the bottom upwards. Ideally, the body should be prepared with an odourless body lotion before perfuming. The fragrances in the men's perfume will cling to the lipids in the lotion, ensuring a longer-lasting fragrance experience.
