Christmas make-up – from classic to extravagant
Every year, December plays host to a number of festive occasions... Christmas parties with colleagues, mulled wine with friends and Christmas dinner with the family. It’s the perfect time for beauty buffs to create some new Christmas make-up looks. We’ve got four festive looks that will make you the star of every party.
Christmas make-up basics
Naturally, you want your make-up to last the whole evening – whether you’re drinking, dancing or smooching. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to keep everything in place. Use a face primer to refine your pores, absorb sebum and prevent unwanted shine. For longer-lasting make-up, apply powder to your T-zone and the areas where you’ve applied concealer. Setting spray adds the perfect finishing touch for a long-lasting look. It sets your make-up and keeps it in place for hours on end. Eyeshadow primer ensures that your eye make-up stays where it should. This way, nothing will slip, smudge or settle in the crease of your eyelid, and even your eyeliner will last the whole party long. Lipsticks with matte textures deliver long-lasting colour. A liquid lipstick that dries matte, for example, will stay on your lips from Christmas starter to dessert without smudging. If you prefer a glossy finish, be sure to keep your lippy close at hand for touch-ups.
The classic smoky eyes look has evolved - and it’s perfect for the festive season. It's best to start with a neutral shade of eyeshadow to maximise colour intensity and minimise smudging. Then choose a dark eyeshadow colour, such as black or dark brown, and apply it to the outer corner of the eye. A hint of gold or silver-coloured eyeshadow on the eyelid gives the look a festive glow. For a harmonious, subtle result, use a nude-coloured lipstick and a touch of blush on the cheeks.

Go for warm eyeshadows in gold, copper or brown tones for the metallic look. Supplement with eyeliner or fake lashes for a more dramatic effect. Give your complexion a subtly warm glow by applying matte bronzer sparingly along your cheekbones, temples and the bridge of your nose. Complete the look with a nude lipstick. It’s the perfect way to put together a classic, elegant look for festive season, and it's so quick and easy to do.

Bronzer
This look is perfect for people who prefer understated eye make-up. Apply a thin layer of light brown to up to the brow line. Then use a glittery shade on the eyelid for a subtle shimmer. Keep the rest of the make-up natural with a hint of blush and a matte bronzer.

Red lips, rosy cheeks and seductive eyes – that’s the all-time classic Christmas make-up look. Emphasise your lips with a red lipstick. Choose a blusher that matches your lipstick. If your red lipstick has a cool undertone, your blusher should be cool too. For orange-tinged reds, go for a blusher with warm undertones. The eye make-up should be understated so that the focus is on the lips.
